When I was a child I was forever wandering through woods, meadows and reading. One of my favourite books was the Secret Garden and even now I dream about a walled garden and a place to escape.This painting was created with  a rich, thick red to wrap the viewer into the scene. The bold delphiniums pop against the green trees and hedgerows in the background .The imitation gold leaf shimmers through the gaps to add a magical touch as the light reflects off the painting.This one of a series I created playing with gold leaf . I wanted to create paintings with a vintage , old period feel which sits in any interior.
