As you are aware, I love flowers , colour and playing with different techniques. This one of series of bold floral pieces with imitation gold leaf .I wanted to add a richness to the red roses and evening sky and felt gold shimmering through the paint would work wonderfully. Acrylics are painted over the varnished gold leaf and then a second layer of varnish is added .The effect is a vintage , period style which looks amazing in a modern or traditional setting.
