Lilith and Eve

£420

My interest in myths and legends are shown in this painting of Lilith and Eve. Looking at women and how stories evolve through time, I wanted to revisit my thoughts about the first women in the garden of Eden. I placed the women in a French apartment with symbolism painted within the furnishing. Lilith is, according to Jewish forklore, the first wife of Adam and gets a lot of bad press for being too independent for Adam. Lilith leaves the garden and stories of death surround her from then onwards. Eve then replaces her.
